This guidance identifies when and where detailed assessment of potential impacts on birds resulting from wind farm developments are likely to be required. It describes the data requirements and survey methodologies needed for such assessments, and explores particular issues such as the utility and limitations of remote technologies and collision risk models. Although all relevant issues are considered it is not possible to present an in-depth review of each method in this summary document and further reading and references are suggested within this information note.
