Sward enhancement refers to management techniques which aim to increase the botanical diversity (mainly the wildflower component) of species-poor grassland. Such work can be funded under Environmental Stewardship, in particular the Higher Level Stewardship Scheme. This note outlines how to select the most suitable sites for sward enhancement.
