Our Strategic Direction 2008–2013 describes the outcomes we want to achieve for the natural environment over the next five years.
- A healthy natural environment.
- People are inspired to value and conserve the natural environment.
- Sustainable use of the natural environment.
- Secure the natural environment for the future.
It also outlines a suite of 12 objectives which will provide the focus for our delivery over the next five years.
Our Corporate Plan 2008–2011 describes 35 targets that we will pursue in order to deliver on these outcomes and objectives. Our targets respond to the full range of Government policies and programmes, in particular those within the Defra family. They include our central role in the delivery of agri-environment schemes and our role in responding to animal health emergencies.
Our Corporate Plan sets out in detail the specific activities, resources and partnerships we will pursue in order to achieve these targets. It also describes what we will do to build our capacity as an environmental leader and support our staff in their delivery and development.
All our work is evidence-based, and where there are gaps in our evidence, we have identified how we will fill them, sharing our knowledge and expertise with others as much as possible.
