The countryside and coast are leading destinations for sustainable leisure activities which, in turn, make an important contribution to the rural economy. This is a summary of research that looked at the extent and value of leisure day visits.
The survey provides the Countryside Agency with the material to interpret and advance the importance of day visits to the rural economy. It demonstrates the choice available in terms of leisure time destinations and confirms the importance of an attractive countryside that delivers high quality enjoyment for visitors.
